Lilium is developing a revolutionary on-demand air taxi service that is powered by the all-electric, vertical take-off and landing Lilium Jet.
Lilium founded in 2015 by four friends studying at the Technical University of Munich, where they shared a mutual idea of transforming the way we travel.
Today, Lilium has attracted more than $375m in funding. Their Investors include Atomico, Baillie Gifford, Freigeist, LGT, Obvious Ventures, and Tencent.
Lilium was in the Top startup in Germany in 2019 and bagged many international awards for their idea and development of the project.
The Lilium Jet was planned with regional mobility in mind. It balances competing requirements for range, speed, and payload while delivering a low noise footprint and the same safety standards as today’s commercial aircraft.
The Lilium Jet is powered by 36 electric motors. It has approximately the same number of parts as a family car. The jet has an innovative liner technology, that makes it inaudible from the ground, once it's 400 meters in the air.
Data from the flight test campaign of the test aircraft is influencing Lilium's design of a serial aircraft, that meets regulatory aerospace guidelines.
Lilium hopes to fully launch its service in 2025. It has unveiled plans for vertiports for takeoffs and landings, and an app for location vertiports, So one-day electric taxis could be at your fingertips.
